About NCP
Service & Support Programs

SERVING STUDENT-ATHLETES. BUILDING LEADERS OF TOMORROW.

Our three initiatives support young people who share the goal of playing college sports through a dedication to individual excellence, leadership and public service.

| NCP SPORTS LEADERSHIP SUMMIT

Established in 2018, the NCP Leadership Summit is a leadership development conference designed to help Student-Athletes prepare for the recruitment process and college admission.

During the summit, former pro-athletes, business leaders, current college athletes and sports professionals interact with student-athletes to share knowledge and experiences. Business leaders and sports professionals provide information on potential career paths through the various networking activities.

| NATIONAL COLLEGE PREPS SCHOLAR PROGRAM

Established in 2020, the National College Preps (NCP) Scholar Program is a scholarship for first-generation college-bound student-athletes living in the state of South Carolina. Student-athletes are accepted during their 7th or 8th grade middle school years.

NCP Scholars receive full access to all NCP Developmental Programs at no cost. Scholars are provided with mentoring, leadership training, campus experiences and athletic training.

To date, the Program has awarded scholarships to 37 NCP Student-Athletes. Applications for the program are accepted yearly during the months of January and February.

The Founder

  • In 1998, Greg Hood, founded National College Preps to provide support and guidance for first-generation college-bound student-athletes. As a first-generation college graduate and a former walk-on athlete at Clemson University, Greg has a passion for supporting young people who aspire to attend college, participate in sports and graduate to become the leaders of tomorrow.

From the inception, Greg Hood wanted NCP Sports to be no ordinary sports program. He was determined to develop a program designed on the holistic development of the athlete and not just a focus on athletic talent. Through his experience as a two-sport letterman at Clemson University, he understands the demands and pressures of sport.

By taking an innovative approach to developing, training and preparing young people for college life, the program’s primary mission is to increase the graduation rate among college athletes and build strong men, women and families through sports, education and successful careers.

As a result of years of community building and network development during their training years, along with formative influences such as mentoring and conference experiences, each class of student-athlete leaders consult and work with one another, ensuring collaboration and continuity.

Greg’s engagement and support in creating a viable model for young people to succeed, and remain committed to excellence, is what makes his vision extraordinary.
